چکیده
We report the results of a search for X-ray emission from quasar host clusters at moderate redshift using the ROSAT HRI. We detect no emission from the host clusters of 3C 263 (z=0.646) and PKS 2352-34 (z=0.706) to 3 limits of 3.26 and 2.86 10 ergs s 1 respectively (Ho=50, qo=1/2) for clusters with rcore=125 kpc and T=5 keV. These limits show that these quasar host clusters are not substantially more X-ray luminous than optically or X-ray selected clusters of similar richnesses at z >0.5. We also report the possible detection of a clump of X-ray emitting gas coincident with the brightest radio lobe of 3C 263. This may be evidence for the existence of a clumpy ICM in the host cluster of 3C 263. Subject headings: Clusters of Galaxies, Quasi-Stellar Objects

X-ray Emission from the Host Clusters of Powerful Agn
We report the detection of X-ray emission from the host cluster of the unusual radio-quiet quasar H 1821+643 using the ROSAT HRI, and the non-detection of X-ray emission from the host cluster of the radio-loud quasar 3C 206 (3σ upper limit of 1.63 1044 ergs s−1) using the EINSTEIN HRI. The host cluster of H 1821+643 is one of the most X-ray luminous clusters known, with a rest-frame 0.1-2.4 keV...
متن کاملROSAT HRI monitoring of extreme X - ray variability in the narrow - line quasar PHL 1092
We report results from an 18-day ROSAT HRI monitoring campaign on the ultrasoft Narrow-Line Seyfert 1 (NLS1) class quasar PHL 1092. This luminous, radio-quiet quasar showed strong X-ray variability in a short ROSAT PSPC observation, and ROSAT HRI monitoring of the similar object IRAS 13224–3809 revealed extreme variability on intermediate timescales. We wanted to determine whether remarkable X-...

We present the analysis of pointed ROSAT PSPC observations of five of the most luminous, intermediate redshift (0:1 < z < 0:15) clusters of galaxies detected in the ROSAT All-Sky Survey. The PSPC data are combined with optical CCD images and spectra to examine the relationship between clusters and their central cluster galaxies (CCGs). Abell 1068, Abell 1361 and Abell 1664 contain three of the ...
متن کاملCosmological Implications of Number Counts of Clusters of Galaxies: logN–logS in X-Ray and Submm Bands
We compute the number counts of clusters of galaxies, the logN–logS relation, in several X-ray and submm bands on the basis of the Press-Schechter theory. We pay particular attention to a set of theoretical models which well reproduce the ROSAT 0.52 keV band logN–logS, and explore possibilities to further constrain the models from future observations with ASCA and/or at submm bands. The latter ...

We present new Chandra Observatory observations together with archival Hubble Space Telescope and radio observations of 3C 254, a radio quasar at z = 0.734, and 3C 280, a radio galaxy at z = 0.996. We report the detection of X-ray and possible HST optical counterparts to the radio hot spots in 3C 280 and of an X-ray counterpart to the western radio hot spot in 3C 254. We present constraints on ...
